There are many benefits to breastfeeding for both mother and baby, but the process does not always start as smoothly as expected.  Breastfeeding can present with challenges whether it is your first child or fourth child.  There are anatomical and developmental differences in newborns that can challenge the initial breastfeeding process.  Maternal prenatal and postnatal factors can also influence the start and continuation of breastfeeding in the mother baby dyad.

Mother Baby Lactation Care is a private home visit lactation practice, founded to provide clients with an advanced level of care for breastfeeding problems in the comfort of their own home. We are dedicated to helping nursing mothers, their babies and families in reaching their breastfeeding goals.  After delivery, a mother’s body is recovering from childbirth, baby is adjusting to this unfamiliar world, and the family is learning about their brand-new life together. We are committed to supporting both mother and baby by addressing any challenges they encounter and providing the dyad with the tools to overcome these barriers. We are committed to supporting the nursing dyad through our holistic approach in care and partner through collaboration with health care providers.

Having an experienced lactation consultant provide this assessment in the home can help to alleviate the stress of traveling with your newborn and rushing to the office to get to an appointment on time; we come to you!  You can stay in your pajamas and even have your older children present during the evaluation if desired. We assist in helping you learn how to nurse in your surroundings and create the perfect nursing station in your own home.  We also provide you with the proper tools and guidance to overcome any challenges with breastfeeding.  Everything is done in your own environment where you are most comfortable.  We are here to help you relax and enjoy this time with your new bundle of joy!
