Shara Feltz MSN, CRNP, IBCLC is a certified nurse practitioner and an International Board- Certified Lactation Consultant. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Neuropsychology along with minors in Natural Science, Biology, and Health Policy & Administration. She completed an additional Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with an International Health certificate from Georgetown University. She then completed her Master’s degree of Nursing from George Washington University and Nurse Practitioner certification from ANCC.
She has over 10 years experience working in pediatrics in a variety of settings including hospital, outpatient and home healthcare. Additionally, she has extensive experience providing both in-home and in office care to new and expecting families. As a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority, Shara is capable of treating mothers and babies with more complicated clinical breastfeeding difficulties. Shara has extensive experience in the physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of lactation problems. She has worked with newborns who have complex medical issues including prematurity, multiple births, heart defects, pulmonary conditions, and hyperbilirubinemia.
As a mother of four, Shara has also experienced the challenges of balancing work, breastfeeding and pumping personally. She strives to help families balance these challenges to reach their goals and achieve a positive breastfeeding experience.
Shara is a member of NAPNAP Breastfeeding Special Interest Group, the International Lactation Consultants Association (ILCA), Lactation Consultants Association of Greater Washington (LCAGW) and the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA).
Shara is BLS certified (Infant, Child and Adult CPR)
